Texte:
La Thaïlande, au fil de l`eau
Le peuple thaï a fait la Thaïlande ; il l`a faite grâce au Ménam, le fleuve heureux, et à de
vastes terres transformées en rizières inondées.
Bangkok n`a pas échappé à l`envahissante présence occidentale, et pourtant même dans
le quartier le plus moderne comme l`avenue Raja Damno, la déception du premier contact
disparaît. Atmosphère originale et méli-mélo de couleurs orientales. Par endroits, des
buildings avec murs blancs ; des enfants, petits, pruneaux aux yeux bridés courent et
gesticulent, des femmes, souriantes derrière leurs marchandises, rivalisent d`ingéniosité pour
attirer la clientèle et semblent se moquer du supermarché voisin ; des familles, installées sur
le trottoir, partagent un frugal repas.
Bangkok, peuplée dans sa majorité de Thailandais, abrite également un nombre
important d`immigrés chinois groupés dans les quartiers commerçants. Les rues sont de
véritables bazars où l`on trouve selon les boutiques des petits pots de porcelaine, des
ustensiles de cuisine ou de vieilles revues déchirées.
Mais quittons Bangkok et partons pour la véritable Thaïlande, celle que le touriste des
voyages organisés à grandes étapes ne verra pas, Ayuthia, qui est l`ancienne capitale du Siam
et qui fut une ville si active au 17ème siècle.
Nous embarquons aux portes de la ville et quittons alors la terre ferme où l`occident a
voulu accéder pour glisser sur l`eau boueuse du fleuve. Tous les bruits, toutes les poussières
de la ville disparaissent comme par enchantement. Le canal se rétrécit peu à peu et commence
à s`enfoncer dans la merveilleuse végétation tropicale : palmiers, cocotiers, manguiers nous
abritent du soleil ardent et forment comme un tunnel. De la petite embarcation, il n`y a qu`à
tendre la main pour cueillir les plus belles fleurs sauvages et s`en faire des colliers.
Là, dans ce cadre enchanteur, où la campagne se libère de la ville, vit la population des
Klongs. Sur chaque berge de l`étroit canal, se dressent, du haut de leurs pilotis, des petites
constructions en bois.
Des enfants, à moitié nus, la figure barbouillée de craie saluent et sourient au passage
chaque bateau. Sur les marches qui montent à une terrasse, une mère plonge son enfant dans
l`eau grise du fleuve ; un pécheur tire sur un immense filet tendu au-dessus de l`eau ; une
jeune fille lave la vaisselle. Toute une petite vie s`organise au bord des canaux : boutiques
encombrées de toutes sortes de produits, pompes à essence, restaurants sont installés sur les
berges. La population est pauvre mais pas misérable : ce n`est pas l`univers angoissant de la
survie.

I think it could be very enriching to live amongst people of different ethnic origins and
social backgrounds. It would be like having the entire world at your doorstep.
How can you understand others if you don’t know them? Living in a multiethnic
neighbourhood is a perfect opportunity to get to know other peoples and cultures.

Travelling abroad is a good idea and many people prefer to leave their mothers countries searching for better living conditions for both themselves and their families.
For me i am just waiting for the opportunity to go abroad but I can never blame my mother country for my own problems,Algeria is really beautiful and gave me many things among them education,but I want to develop my life outside because my mother country coud not provide some requirements like job.
