Bonjour,

The text warns the reader of the difficulty in buying spectacles on Internet, not to order but to choose the frames and the glasses which will allow him to acquire an equipment really adapted to its morphology and its vision.

In fact, it’s needed to consider certain issues when the customer buy glasses online because every pair of glasses is a custom-made item. And everybody’s eye and head are different. It is necessary to take various measurements for a proper fit.

It is necessary to know that most online eyewear providers feature a catalog that shows the frames they offer in detail (description of the frames features, material, color…). The customer can choose his frames himself.

But he must also choose the material of his lens as well as the coating desired.

As regards the centring of glasses, the customer must measure his own PD and it can be tricky.
Some optical providers suggest the simplest method, which is to have a prescribing eye doctor or an optician take the measurement for the customer. Alternatively, they offer step-by-step explanations of how to take the PD in the mirror.

To choose the good size of setting, some online stores offer tips : they suggest that the customer select eyeglasses in a size that is close to his current glasses or that he measures his head with a measuring tape or use his hat size as a reference.

Eyeglasse.com, an other site, propose a process call TryItOn to help the consumer : this last upload a photo of himself to the site and the providers superimpose the image of the frames on the photo.
Others sites offer tips on getting the right look by describing different face shapes and recommending styles of frames to complement each.

Everybody is targeted by buying eyeglasses online (children, adults and seniors) purpose it is necessary to be comparatively “habille” to give information to all elements necessary for the elaboration of a pair of spectacles.

 Mon opinion :

I find that is a very bad idea.
Buying eyeglasses online it’s very dangerous because the glasses aren’t adapted to the wearer (centring is not definite, the size of the setting is not good, the size can be too small, thicknesses are not optimized and there are risks of poor assemblages with against axle or reversal of glasses).
This method is for me of approximation.
Besides, it’s a bad thing for opticians.

 Conclusion :

Buying glasses online it’s very practical because it’s more abordable than traditional optical store.
But, in traditional optical store, when the customer want to know how a pair of glasses looks on him, he simply try them on. And the optician can help and advice him, correctly.
