Confessions of a shopaholic.
Rebecca Bloomwood is a journalist and a shopaholic, too (to be a shopaholic : être accro au shopping), when she does shopping, the world is beautiful ! She doesn’t have a job and she spends too much money. She’s in debt (to be in debt : avoir des dettes) and is owing in the neighbourhood of 16 000 dollars to the bank (in the neighbourhood : aux environs). Rebecca is deciding to find a job and trying her luck (to try one’s luck : tenter sa chance) applying (to apply for a job : postuler pour un job) for a job in her favourite fashion magazine ! When she’s going to her job interview, Rebecca is coming across a green scarf (to come across an article : tomber sur un article) and is falling in love with this one ! But all of her credit cards are frozen and she absolutely wants this scarf. She’s asking to a hot-dog seller some money and is inventing some lies as “ My aunt is sick and she really want a green scarf, I have to please (to please someone : faire plaisir à quelqu’un) her ! ” but he doesn’t want to give her some money. Suddenly a man is giving her several banknotes and is going away. Rebecca is arriving to her job interview with her new scarf but the secretary is saying the job is ever taken by someone : Alicia Billington ! Rebecca is disappointed (disappointed : déçu), she’s getting ready to (to get ready to : s’apprêter à) leave the office when the secretary is saying a financial magazine is looking for a journalist.
When she’s meeting with the director, Luke Brandon, Rebecca is realizing he’s the man who gives her the banknotes ! Her job interview is a disaster because she doesn’t know anything about finances. In the evening, Rebecca and her best friend are writing two letters : one to the fashion magazine to show her competence and one to Luke Brandon to say he’s tacking back his money to buy some decent clothes. They’re going to send these ones. The following day, Luke Brandon is calling her to say he really likes her letter where she’s comparing shoes to money and he’s accepting her for the job. She’s realizing the letter was for the fashion magazine and the two letters have been exchanged ! But she can’t refuse the job because she needs money. Her new job consists to say how to handle (to handle : gérer) money while she spends all her money in clothes ! Every time, she has to write an article for the magazine, she has a stroke of luck (stroke of luck : coup de chance) and her articles are a great success ! Rebecca is nicknamed “ The girl in the green scarf ”. So, Luke Brandon takes Rebecca with him at all the meetings, the conferences, etc… But someone always phones her : Derek Smeath. He’s a debt-collector (a debt-collector : un agent de recouvrement) and wants Rebecca to pay her debts ! She doesn’t want to she’s in debt because she’s in love with Luke. So, she’s lying to him, she’s saying Derek Smeath is her ex-boyfriend and he harasses (to harass : harceler) her for one year ago. Everyone at the office is blocking his calls, Rebecca has peace for a moment.
Meanwhile (meanwhile : entre-temps), she’s going to the Shopaholic Anonymous and her best friend is announcing she’s going to marry and Rebecca will be her bride’s maid (the bride’s maid : la demoiselle d’honneur), she must get a dress ! In her job, Rebecca is very famous and a great television channel wants to interview her and Luke. It’s the stylist of Alette, her favourite fashion magazine, who will dress Rebecca for the interview. They are going to a boutique. While Rebecca is trying some dresses, Alicia Billington, the stylist’s assistant, hears Rebecca’s mobile phone and sees it’s Derek Smeath… Alicia is jealous of Rebecca, so she’s deciding to pick up (to pick up : décrocher) the phone… Finally, Rebecca has bought two dresses, one for the interview and the other one for the wedding. Than the new leader of the Shopaholic Anonymous sees her with her shopping bags and to punish Rebecca, she’s forcing her to give her dresses to the charity (the charity : l’oeuvre de bienfaisance), but she doesn’t want and when the new leader is going away, Rebecca is asking to recover (to recover : récupérer) her dresses. The woman refuses and Rebecca is deciding to buy again her dresses but she doesn’t have enough money, she must choose one of the dresses !
The interview day, everything is alright until the moment of the public questions… Derek Smeath is standing up and he’s beginning to tell all her lies more and more absurd she invented to avoid him and he’s belittling her (to belittle : dénigrer). Rebecca is leaving the set, she’s crying. Luke is following her, he wants some explanations ! But she can’t answer him, he feels betrayed and he’s going away. Then, her best friend sees in the street a woman with the dress of Rebecca, the bride’s maid’s dress ! She’s disappointed and doesn’t want to talk to her anymore. Rebecca is so sad. She’s deciding with her friends from the Shopaholic Anonymous to sell all her clothes – even her green scarf. It’s a very great success, it’s yielding (to yield : rapporter) much money ! Enough to pay her debts. And to take revenge on Derek Smeath, Rebecca is paying him… but all in coins ! Then, she’s trading (to trade : échanger) the dress with some of her clothes and Rebecca, wearing her bride’s maid’s dress, is going to her best friend’s wedding and apologises.
Now, she’s able to resist to the clothes. So, Luke forgave Rebecca and it’s a happy end !

OK, Stop avec les "is - ing".
Someone is doing = il est en train de faire
Someone does = il fait
J'ai juste souligne les fautes dans le premier paragraphe mais il y en a a corriger dans tout le texte.
(1) "in the neighbourhood" = dans le voisinage
"environ/autour de " = about
(5) "he harasses her for one year ago" = il la harcele pour 1 an
