However, there were opponents to the bus boycott of Montgomery.
Some government leaders and the bus company tried to stop the bus boycott by increasing the cost of cabs. Eventually the bus company was forced to cut back on the number of buses serving the city. It also raised the price of a ride from ten to fifteen cents. As the protesters were now shopping closer to home, the white owners of downtown shops were starting to lose money, they realised the bus boycott was bad for business and wanted it to stop so they formed a group called the Men of Montgomery and tried negotiating directly with the boycotters, but it failed.
As a result, Black people were threatened by some white people who tried to divide their communities by using violence or arrest them for minor traffic offences. For instance, a bomb explodes on the home of Martin Luther King.
Rosa Parks was harassed and her husband resigned from his job because he was forgotten to talk about his wife. She was also fired from her job as a seamstress and was enable to find another job in Montgomery.

These vandalism acts failed to stop the protesters. The bus boycott of Montgomery was successful: 75 percent of its riders were black and all had joined the boycott, making the bus company lose a lot of money. The Montgomery bus boycott lasted 381 days. The boycott turned the national attention over the black issue and Martin Luther King became famous.
Finally, almost one year after Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat, the Supreme Court, on November 13th, 1956 decided that racial segregation in buses were unconstitutional The bus boycott ended on December, 21stof 1956, when the court order arrived in Montgomery.

Both the act of Rosa Parks and the Montgomery bus boycott had consequences on the American society and on Rosa Parks’ life.

Citation :

boycott by increasing

: Le "by" n'est pas obligatoire, c'est juste pour alléger la syntaxe.

Citation :

was forced to cut back on the number

Jamais entendu cette expression, dans le doute je mettrai "reduce" ou "decrease" the number of buses.

Sinon franchement c'est plutôt bien, c'est pas fait avec un traducteur j'espère??
