Sunday July 9, during the final of the world cup, opposing France to Italy, the French player Zinedine Zidane headbutted his Italian opponent Marco Materazzi. He was sended off for that during the second period of extra time, which ended 1-1. It was to be his last act as a professional player. Italy won the World Cup title in the ensuiing penalty shootout. Zindane won the Golden Ball award fot the World Cup's best player in spite of his gesture because journalists mostly carried out at half-time.
First of all, if I chose this subject, it’s because I play football and I’m fan of the Italian football team. I was in Turkey at the time of the match and looked it on a large screen. I was very happy to see that Zinedine Zidane was sended off because my favorite football team is Italy. But I think that this kind of gesture doesn't have its place on a football field. Zinedine Zidane was a very good player but that gesture has tarnished his illustrious image. I think that the video should be authorized in football. That will strongly help the referees and will allow to decrease the number of gestures of this kind, which are too presents on the field. How to ask to youg people not to be agressive on the field when the see their idol doing that.
